{Ad} Our recent stay at the Laundry Retreat, Llanrhaeadr, Denbighshire, North Wales
If you’re in need of some well-deserved child-free, adults-only rest and reconnection with nature then I’ve found just the place for you!
In a true labour of love, owners, Tom and Jenny have spent years designing and developing the beautiful gardens on the grounds of their 18th century home, which was once the laundry and dairy to Llanrhaeadr Hall.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while you will recognise Jenny from our monthly gardening blog where Jenny shares 5 top gardening tips for the month. You can read these blogs by clicking here.
As well as the stunning gardens, Tom and Jenny have also turned their talents to creating a luxury glamping style retreat in the grounds of their incredible home.
The Roundhouses (named Tilia and Ilex) are circular, timber-framed eco-buildings that have a log cabin feel and are perfectly positioned to allow you to take in the stunning views of the Clwydian Range even from the comfort of your bed!
We were extremely lucky to be one of the first guests to stay in the recently constructed roundhouse named “Ilex” Latin for Holly.
~ Inside ~
The interior design brief Jenny and Tom gave their interior designer Lucinda Griffith for Ilex was “earthy masculinity” and my goodness Lucinda absolutely nailed it!
Bringing the feel of outside, in, with its accent woodland wall mural (from Hovia.com) Scandi-feel, solid mango wood bedside tables (from Objekts.co.uk) and rustic bedside lamps, the bedroom area is incredibly tranquil with incredible views.

The large shower room is an interior delight too. Filled with wonderful fittings, accessories and locally sourced toiletries. Takes a little while to take them all in, there are that many! Is it possible to fall in love with a towel rail?!

Each roundhouse comes with a mini kitchen inside, where you can make a cup of coffee and toast your complimentary sourdough topped with delicious “Laundry Retreat” homemade marmalade.

~ Outside ~
Outside, you’ll find a hob and cooker for those al fresco meals. I loved the novelty of cooking our breakfast outside (I’m not much of a camper, you might have guessed!) with the added bonus of no cooking smells indoors! Genius!

You’ll also find this wonderful outdoor space equipped with super comfy seating and a tall firepit to ensure you can spend all evening outside whatever the temperature. I also had a huge realisation that a tall firepit is the way to go! The smoke rises much higher meaning you don’t smell of smoke! Brilliant!

We thoroughly enjoyed both evenings on the veranda!

~ Eating out and things to do ~
There are plenty of great places to eat close by, all of which you’ll find on the Laundry Retreat website.
Bodnant Gardens is only a 40-minute drive away which we didn’t visit as part of our trip but have recently visited on another trip and can highly recommend it.

Snowdon and the thrills of Zipworld are just over an hour too.
You actually don’t need to go anywhere though! There is an abundance of incredible walks on your doorstep and the incredible walled gardens which Jenny & Tom are always delighted to give guests a tour around.

So if you’re looking for a slice of paradise then The Laundry Retreat really is the perfect getaway.
