{Ad} Our February half term break at Little Norfolk Cottage, Docking, North Norfolk

Norfolk had been on our list of places to visit in the UK for some time.
From the Instagramability (totally made up word but I like it!) of the beach huts in Wells-next-to-the-sea, to the beautiful interiors of many of the properties, it’s always caught my eye.
I’ve been following @littlenorfolkcottage for a long time on Instagram and frequently swooned over many of the rooms in the cottage. Those of you who follow me on Instagram will be very familiar with the interior of this norfolk based cottage as I’ve shared many of the rooms on my stories over the years!
So when the opportunity arose for us to actually holiday at Little Norfolk Cottage I was, as you might imagine, a little bit excited!
We arrived at Little Norfolk Cottage in the afternoon and were welcomed by an array of yummy M&S goodies, a gorgeous bunch of tulips, soft lighting, roaring radiators and music playing on the alexa in the kitchen. A wonderfully welcoming & cosy arrival after a long journey.
The kids let out a yelp of excitement as they burst through the front door to discover their bunk beds! I mean how blinking cool are these?!
The Candy Bar!
It then took a millisecond for the kids to sniff out the candy bar, basketball net on the stairs and all the games and toys including 3 scooters for you to use whilst you are visiting! There’s so much to keep them entertained at the cottage allowing you time to relax reading the papers in front of the log burner.
Fish & Chips
I then tackled the minimal amount of unpacking (with a glass of prosecco for moral support!) while Daddy headed out to Eric’s Fish & Chips to collect some (highly recommended by several people) takeaway fish and chips for the family.
It did not disappoint! I’m not a huge fan of fish and chips (I can hear you all gasping!) but these were lovely. I highly recommend the Halloumi and Spinach Arancini too!
The Instagram shower of dreams!
After a wonderful night’s sleep (the mattress is incredibly comfy as is the White Company bedding) I couldn’t wait to jump in the shower of my Instagram dreams! I mean just look at the colour of those tiles and that shower curtain! Dreamy!
Things to do & places to eat
After a bit of research that morning we decided to catch a steam train on the North Norfolk Railway from Holt to Sheringham. (Holt is a 30 minute car journey from the cottage).
The train journey is only 20 minutes so if you’re children have a short attention span (like ours!) then it’s perfect. The stations and trains are so beautifully looked after and who doesn’t love a steam train journey!
We had a quick windy wander around Sheringham and decided to stop for some lunch. I’d read about a little café called Camellia Cottage on trip advisor so we gave it a go and I am so pleased we did! The food was incredible, and they have a fab children’s menu too.
We then walked back to the train station via a very traditional seaside arcade. I’ve always turned my nose up at arcades, but I actually really enjoyed trying to help my daughter win back her £1’s worth of 2ps on the coin dropper! It’s all in the timing! We lost it all of course!
After the quick 20 minute journey back on the steam train we decided to take a look around Holt.
Whilst there we stumbled across a gorgeous little court yard called “Hoppers Yard” which has some gorgeous little shops and a tearoom named Folly Tea Room which we decided to stop at for tea and cake. (Our holidays appear to involve a lot of eating don’t they!)
There are so many teas to choose from and the cakes are incredible! My husband said the coffee was amazing too!
Wells Next To The Sea
The next day the sun shone so we decided to head to Wells-Next-The-Sea to walk along the beach. Even on a very blustery winters day, it’s stunning. We collected shells and made patterns in the sand, whilst I took Instagram photos of the beach huts, of course!
A good tip for those who can’t or don’t like to walk too far. There’s parking in Wells centre which involves a 20 – 25 minute walk (with kids in toe) to get to the beach. Alternatively Wells Beach car park is right next to the beach. Guess how we learnt this lesson!
There’s a fab café there called the Beach Café where we stopped for hot chocolates (with marshmallows – a very important ingredient to my daughter!).
This sign outside the cafe really tickled me! (The dog has settled in great by the way!)
Thornham Deli
The heavens then opened so we hopped back in the car and stopped off at Thornham Deli on the way home. Oh wow! It is an incredible deli, cafe and an incredible interiors shop! If you love interiors, then this a must place to visit.
Eating out
That evening we ate out at the White Horse in Brancaster which is a family friendly pub and only a 15 minute drive from Little Norfolk cottage.
Holkham Hall
The weather on our final day in Norfolk was pretty, well British, so we needed something that was mainly indoors. After a slow and relaxing start to the day we headed over to Holkham Hall where they had plenty to keep the children occupied including story time & crafts. My husband and I found the Holkham Stories Experience fascinating too.
Burnham Market
The rain finally stopped so we paid a quick visit to Burnham Market on the way home. What a beautiful village filled with wonderful shops (many of which are interiors shops!), a deli, fishmongers, butchers, a couple of pubs and 2 tea rooms! I’ve probably missed a few there but you get the idea! There’s plenty there making it a worthwhile visit for any family!
We then spent our last evening testing out the roll top bath. Not the relaxing experience you might be thinking! The one where the kids want to get in too! Yep one of those baths!
Followed by a lot of lounging around in our onesies in front of the fire. The perfect end to our first cottage holiday to Norfolk.
Little Norfolk Cottage sleeps 4 adults and 2 children and is situated in the village of Docking in North Norfolk.
If you love interiors, then you’ll not be disappointed staying at this gorgeous cottage! I’m already planning our next visit and my next room revamp is based solely on the decor at Little Norfolk Cottage!
